Best things to do in Amed, Bali 2025
If you’re looking for the best things to do in Amed, this is your guide!
For everybody who doesn’t know, Amed is a quiet, authentic, and absolutely stunning coastal town in Bali. I’ve been in almost every place on Bali, and it might just be my favorite spot here so far. Unlike the west coast, which is famous for surfing, Amed is all about calm waters, breathtaking underwater worlds, and a laid-back vibe. So, if you’re planning a trip and searching for things to do in Amed, here are my top recommendations!
I also made a video about things to do in Amed, you can watch it here:
Best Snorkeling and Diving Spots
Amed is a paradise for ocean lovers. Whether you’re into snorkeling, free diving, or scuba diving, the underwater world here is absolutely magical.

Japanese Shipwreck
One of the coolest snorkeling spots is the Japanese Shipwreck, located just a 15-minute scooter ride from Amed. The wreck sits in shallow waters (around 3–10 meters deep), making it perfect for snorkelers and free divers. The coral-covered wreck and colorful marine life make it an unforgettable experience.
Tip: There’s a small fee (~20K IDR) to access the beach through a local restaurant, so bring some cash!
USAT Liberty Shipwreck (Tulamben)
If you’re up for a short ride (about 30 minutes from Amed), head to USAT Liberty Shipwreck in Tulamben. This massive WWII wreck is a dream for divers, but even if you’re just snorkeling, you’ll still see parts of it. The area has an dystopian, mystical vibe, and the marine life is incredible.
Secret Tip: On the same beach just a bit up the coast from the Liberty Wreck, there are underwater statues to explore. Plus, we spotted a giant sea turtle! (see picture)

Lipah Beach & Jemeluk Bay
For beginner snorkelers, Lipah beach and Jemeluk Bay are excellent options. Lipah beach is often called Turtle Bay because you have a high chance of spotting turtles there. Jemeluk Bay, on the other hand, is located right in Amed, making it super easy to access. Just cross the street from most guesthouses, and you’re in the water!

Best Cafés and Restaurants in Amed
Amed might be quiet, but it has some fantastic cafés. Here are my favorites:
Green Leaf Café
A hot spot for free divers, Green Leaf Café is right by the beach and serves amazing food. The best part? The super friendly staff – they even remembered my name after just one visit! It’s a great place to chill, meet people, or grab a post-dive meal.
Good Stuff Café
If you need a good work-friendly spot, Good Stuff Café is perfect. It has a cool, hipster vibe, delicious food, and a comfortable air-conditioned indoor area. It’s slightly more expensive but totally worth it for a productive work session.
Rimba Cafe
For those who love aesthetic vibes, there’s a super cute café called Rimba with the best pastries in town (I’m obsessed with their lemon tart!). It’s a bit more touristy, but if you love good pastries, it’s a must-visit.
Beachfront Warungs
Amed has a bunch of local Warungs (small restaurants) right by the beach, and they serve some of the best and cheapest meals. My favorite one is Warung Sunset Beach and it serves fresh pancakes with honey and banana, plus a fresh orange juice and coffee for just 35K IDR (~€2)!
Fresh Coconut by the Beach
Nothing beats sipping a fresh coconut while chilling on the beach. You can get one for around 20K IDR at small stands along the coast.

Try Durian
If you’ve never tried durian, this is your chance! It’s known as the “king of fruits” and has a… let’s say, unique taste and smell. I did actually like it, but either way it’s definitely an experience worth trying at least once!
Sunset & Sunrise Spots in Amed
Joli Best View Café
One of my favorite things to do in Amed is watching the beautiful sunsets every evening.
Just a five-minute scooter ride up the hill from Amed, Joli Best View Café lives up to its name. It has an incredible panoramic view of the coastline and is the perfect place to sip a fresh juice while watching the sun set over the mountains.
Pro Tip: Arrive around 5:30 PM to get a good seat. If you want to have dinner here, making a reservation is a good idea!

Sunrise at the Beach
Since Amed is on the east coast, the sunrises here are spectacular. Just head down to the beach early in the morning and enjoy the calm, peaceful beauty of the ocean as the sun rises over the horizon.
Bukit Cinta – A Hidden Viewpoint
For an even more epic view, visit Bukit Cinta. It’s technically just a rice field by the side of the road, but the view of Mount Agung is breathtaking. If you’re into photography, this spot is a must!

If you’re looking for a relaxed, authentic Bali experience, Amed is perfect. It’s quieter than Canggu or Ubud but still has a great mix of local culture, stunning nature, and cute cafés. Whether you’re a diver, a beach lover, or just someone who enjoys a peaceful vibe, Amed has something for you.
So, pack your snorkeling gear, rent a scooter, and explore this hidden gem on the east coast of Bali. You won’t regret it!
