Top 5 Amazing Things to Do in Da Nang (2025 Guide)

Earlier this year I had a chance to spent a few days in an interesting city of Da Nang. It’s fascinating (and also a bit confusing) combination of socialist style with modern architecture and beautiful beaches.

Whether you’re here for a day or a week, this guide covers the best things to do in Da Nang you won’t want to miss.

Surfing at My Khe Beach

One of the first things you’ll notice about Da Nang is its incredible beaches right in the middle of the city. My Khe Beach, for instance, is perfect for surfing, especially if you’re a beginner. (like me)

It’s super easy to find places that rent boards or offer surf lessons right on the beach. After catching some waves, you can get a coffee at one of the many cozy cafes around. A perfect way to start a day.

Golden Bridge

The Golden Bridge is probably one of the most iconic views from Vietnam; definitely from Da Nang. Those hands are simply majestic. The thing I did not realise until I got there is that, it’s not a standalone monument, but a part of Sun World Ba Na Hills theme park. I was honestly quite disappointed by that fact. BUT I was also very surprised by how much I enjoyed the theme park. I would say it’s not really a travel experience, but actually a one worth having! Unfortunately an entrance fee is quite pricy, around €35.

Visiting Hoi An

Hoi An is a charming ancient city only about 30 minutes from Da Nang and it’s truly one of the highlights of Vietnam. It’s packed with history, culture, and fantastic local cuisine.

I spent three months in Hoi An this year and cannot recommend it enough. If you want to know in detail what can you do and see in Hoi An, you can check out my other blog post where I cover it in more detail. Here I can say that for me a day trip to Hoi An would not be enough. I would say you should stay at least for a weekend, but I would recommend staying for a few days.

Hai Van Pass

If there’s one thing I would say EVERYONE should try, it’s riding through the Hai Van Pass. This stunning coastal mountain road offers some of the best views in Vietnam, overviewing an amazing coastline with a beautiful turquoise water.

If you’re comfortable, rent a scooter or motorbike and enjoy the ride at your own pace. Even if you don’t ride yourself, don’t worry. You can still experience it. Services like Easy Riders let you hop on the back of a motorbike driven by experienced locals. Several of my friends tried this and highly recommended it!

Monkey Mountain (Son Tra Mountain)

Lastly, a quick trip to Monkey Mountain, officially known as Son Tra Mountain, is a fantastic way to spend a relaxed afternoon. Located on a peninsula within Da Nang itself, it’s easily accessible by scooter or car. The hike is manageable for most, offering stunning views overlooking the coastline. You’ll be able to see multiple kinds of monkeys, local shrines and impressive statues located along the trails.

Final Thoughts

Da Nang offers a balanced mix of relaxation, adventure, and cultural exploration. Perfect for a few days trip or maybe even a longer stay. If you find yourself travelling through Vietnam, you should definitely keep an eye on Da Nang.
